How to draw bubble letters

Bubble letters are round, puffy letters that look inflated like balloons. Use the generator to plan your word, then follow these five steps to draw it yourself.

  1. Write your word lightly in pencil. Leave a finger-width gap around it, because bubble letters grow.
  2. Draw a rounded outline around the pencil lines. Keep the same distance all the way round and turn every corner into a curve.
  3. Make the holes small and round. Tiny counters (the insides of A, B, O, P) make letters look puffed up.
  4. Erase the pencil and ink the outline with a black marker. Overlap neighbouring letters slightly for a chunky look.
  5. Add a 3D shadow and a shine. Thicken the bottom-right edge, then leave a small white highlight near the top-left.
